“… together, we can make a difference.” Thank you Jon Snow for your objective and informative reporting. Please watch to the end.
This is such good reporting about the truth. I don’t know where he is based nor for what network he is reporting. Over here in the States, Democracy Now! is online and is broadcast on the CUNY station, a local one, and fair reporting is being given from their reporter in Gaza. And some israelis who oppose the bombing and siege of Gaza have been on that program.
People all over the world are protesting. Jewish activists in New York held a speak-out, sing-in at an office of the Friends of the Israeli army; they read the names of Gazans who’d been killed.
The truth must be told and known. It’s not coming out in the major media over here.
Jon Snow is a news reporter and main anchor for the news on our fourth terrestrial station here, Channel 4. Some see this news programme (daily at 7pm for one hour) as the best we have in the UK right now, surpassing the BBC which is thought to be politicised. Here are a couple of links for you:
Snow is a well-respected journalist with a good team around him.
Kathy, I have read in the press/online that those who read out the names in New York were arrested? What is happening?
I just found a blog of someone who had been arrested as one of the nine who read names, and the person was blogging away, so they must have all been released. A lot of protests here in the States, with a huge one last Friday. But Jewish activists are doing a lot. Just saw several mentions, including protesting at a Boeing facility in Seattle to protest their arms to Israel. And July 29, 24 activists arrested outside the Israeli Mission to the U.N.
As I said, I watch Democracy Now! which has a blog and replays of their show and transcripts. They have reporters in Gaza, and have had some very good anti-war Israelis on, Gideon Levy, an editor of Ha’aretz and a historian who went to a protest in Haifi.
There was a protest of 5,000 in Tel Aviv and about 700 in Haifi.
‘I have read of protests all over Europe, in the Middle East, of course, and many other countries.
Thanks for the links.
And thanks for the further info Kathy. Much appreciated.
