Quick Review of Vexed, BBC2 9pm, Monday 1 August, Epi 1 of 6, Series 2

Positives
Miranda Raison’s DI Georgina Dixon – believable.
Scenes of Richmond, Surrey.
Toby Stephens’s singing voice – who knew?  More please.

Negatives
The show’s premise; it still doesn’t work.
DI Jack Armstrong is simply not believable.

Episode plot
It really doesn’t matter.

Will I be watching more?
Highly unlikely given the trailer for next week’s where they suddenly decide to go undercover.

In one sentence:
St Trinian’s meets coppering over a clunky script.

Vexed was commissioned by Cheryl Taylor, Controller of Comedy Commissioning and Janice Hadlow, Controller of BBC Two.  One can only assume that they never saw Zen, the quality programme that Danny Cohen chose not to recommission.  That’s what the money should have been spent on, not Vexed.

I can agree with all of the above, apart from the request for more singing. The protracted nose-blowing scene made me laugh, but I don’t feel proud of that.
