From the press release:
The TV Book Club repeated on Channel 4 – new series in the Autumn
Selected episodes of the most recent series of the TV Book Club will be repeated on Channel 4 from 14th April at 9am for 6 weeks. The TV Book Club is a UK television record-breaker as the only advertising funded programme to enjoy a five series run and is the UK’s premier broadcast spot for books. Each series reaches 3.5 million consumers, regularly turning featured books into bestsellers. Titles featured in the repeats are: Before I Go To Sleep; The Sisters Brothers; Into the Darkest Corner; Girl Reading; The Report; You Deserve Nothing.
Cactus TV is currently re-modelling the show for a new broadcaster in the Autumn and a new-look integrated retail and e-tail promotion will be announced to support it.* During this makeover period, there will be a short hiatus in the TV Book Club and a summer series is therefore not now planned. The TV Book Club, which ended its run on Sunday, is the most-watched and popular book show on British TV.
The ITV3 Crime Thriller Awards** will take place on Thursday 18th October 2012 at the Grosvenor House Hotel. As before these popular awards will be broadcast on ITV3 and the event will be preceded by a 6 week series focussing on crime writers, The Crime Map of Britain.
The Irish Book Awards will be held on the evening of Thursday 22nd November 2012 in the Concert Hall of The Royal Dublin Society in Ballsbridge. The National Book Awards will take place at the Mandarin Oriental in London on the 6th December 2012. Details of the TV coverage of these two National Book Awards will be confirmed at a later date.
* The re-modelling is excellent news to this reader. But if we now have to stomach ‘e-tail’ can we seriously see the back of ‘slebselling’ in the programme? Thank you.
** This includes the following Dagger Awards from the Crime Writers’ Association in the UK: Gold; John Creasey (New Blood); Ian Fleming Steel.
