Borgen starts on BBC4 on Saturday, Jan 7th, 2012 at 9pm

Sidse Babett Knudsen as Birgitte Nyborg

From Denmark again and from the same production company responsible for the very successful The Killing, but this time it’s a political thriller.  Borgen’s 10 episodes will be screened over 5 weekly double-bills.  Read more about the series at the Radio Times here.  But be aware: this one has another strong female protagonist.  In addition to its non-sexist appeal, female hearts will flutter again amongst viewers.  Recognise anyone from The Killing?  Of course you do…

Mikael Birkkjaer

British spy thriller author Jeremy Duns – now living in Sweden – has already seen it and confirmed on twitter ‘Yes, I really enjoyed it. Coalition politics, ex-spin doctor now in media… great stuff.🙂’ @JeremyDuns

Looks good, I’ll give this one a go I think. (Have just deleted all the Braquo episodes after watching and disliking the first!).

I notice that this series is also on BBC HD at the same time. This was never the case with The Killing. Maybe all that darkness meant that it was only worth showing in standard definition? Borgen may possibly have been be shot in more light.
