It's a crime! (Or a mystery…)

Bad Sex in Literature Award (Literary Review) 2011 Winner

The winner was annouced tonight and is: David Guterson for his novel Ed King.

The BBC reports:

‘On hearing of his win, Guterson said: “Oedipus practically invented bad sex, so I’m not in the least bit surprised.”

The author, who is based in the US, was unable to attend the prize ceremony at the In and Out Naval and Military Club in London.

Instead, EastEnders star Barbara Windsor presented the award to his publishers.’

Apparently the judges were ‘finally swayed’ by a passage involving a bar of soap.  Giles Coren’s Winkler won in 2005 with a scene inspired by a domestic shower.
