The first PENfro book festival will take place on September 18th 2011 at Rhosygilwern, the place where Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and Carmarthen meet. The festival promises to be a ‘celebration of every kind of writing, reading and publishing in west Wales. A meeting place for readers and authors. Talks, discussions, competitions and awards.’ More information on the festival here and on the venue here.
Secondly, Kidwelly (Cydweli) in Carmarthenshire is to host a book festival in May of next year. The South Wales Evening Post reported ‘The three-day Bank Holiday event will showcase the “very best” of new and established Welsh and British talent, and is the brainchild of Welsh author Julian Ruck and his publishing house Dinefwr Press. Mr Ruck said the purpose of the festival was to promote literacy in children, to award debut novelists for their efforts, and to put Kidwelly “on the map”.’
